What we believe

The Gospel

"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,"

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him."

Romans 5:8-9

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

2 Corinthians 5:21

The Scriptures

We believe in the inerrant, infallible, all-authoritative, all-sufficient word of God, and that it was penned by men under divine influence of God, who is the author. Therefore, we believe that our understanding of God, the Christian life, and our view of the world must be derived from God’s revelation of his word to us. RRBC manifests this through expository preaching of the Old Testament as well as the New Testament.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Jeremiah 15:16; 36:1-32; Matthew 5:17-18; 22:29; Luke 21:33; 24:44-46; John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17; Acts 17:10-11; Romans 15:4; 10:17; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21

God/Trinity

We believe in the one holy, all-knowing, omnipresent, all-powerful, self-sustaining, eternal God that is a Trinity consisting of God the Father, God the Son (completely God and completely man), and God the Holy Spirit. One God, yet three distinct persons of the very same substance that are all equally God and eternally unchanging.

Man

We believe that all mankind is created in the image of God. This includes all nationalities, men and women, from all walks of life. We also believe all of mankind are born sinners as a result of the first Adam’s original sin. Because of this, man-kind’s heart is bent on sinful depravity, and must be born again (regenerated) by the Spirit of God in order to be in a right relationship with God once-more through the life and death of the second Adam – Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17)

Genesis 1:26-30; 2:5,7,18-22; 3; 9:6; Psalms 1; 8:3-6; 32:1-5; 51:5; Isaiah 6:5; Jeremiah 17:5; Matthew 16:26; Acts 17:26-31; Romans 1:19-32; 3:10-18,23; 5:6,12,19; 6:6; 7:14-25; 8:14-18,29; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31; 15:19,21-22; Ephesians 2:1-22; Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11

Salvation

We believe that God is entirely responsible for the salvation of sinners. We believe that our only hope to be transferred from God’s wrath to right standing with him comes from faith in Jesus Christ’s substitutional death on the cross. In Christ absorbing the wrath of God, Christians are free from condemnation, and are justified in the sight of God, and reconciled to God with himself adopting us as his children through Christ. Because of this, Christians are equipped by the power of the Holy Spirit to confirm our “calling and election” (2 Peter 1:10) by growing in holiness and Christ-likeness. Those of faith are then granted the privilege to take on the ordinances of the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

The Church

We believe that there is one universal, blood-bought church that was instituted by Christ, and that it is manifested in local churches. Furthermore, the church is the body of Christ, meaning that membership into local churches should only be permitted to professing Christians, though, we freely welcome all who would come to participate in church events and services. It is the responsibility of the pastor(s)/elder(s) to govern the church, with deacons serving along-side, to shepherd the body, edify it, and discipline it if necessary. It is the duty of the whole to fulfill The Great Commission by going unto all the world, making (and baptizing) disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ will continue adding to his church until his return.
